League Rules

E.Y.B.C. FALL SR. LEAGUE RULES: GIRLS and BOYS

ALL O.S.A.A. HIGH SCHOOL RULES SHALL APPLY EXCEPT:

1.  2 (15 minute) halves shall be running clock. If the game is within 10 points in the last five minutes it will be stopped clock on dead balls and timeouts. 3rd/4th grade teams will play 4 v 4. 5th/6th grade teams will play 5 v 5.

2.  5-10 minute warm up period before games depending on time available.  There is a 3 minute break for halftime.

3.  3 (full) time outs per game.  One additional time out will be awarded for each period of overtime. Regulation time outs do not carry over into overtime.

4.  Overtime period will be two minutes of running clock.  If after two overtime periods, the score is still tied, we will go to a  2- minute sudden death format. The first team to score in sudden death is the winner. If neither team scores in the 2 minutes each team will choose one player to have a free-throw shoot off. 3rd/4th division will shoot from the bottom of the circle.

5.  All teams will use the 28.5 size regulation ball. Baskets will be set at 9’ for 3rd and 4th grade games EXCEPT when a gym with adjustable baskets is not available at which time a 10’ basket will be used. 5th/6th grade games will be played at a 10’ basket always.

6.  All teams can play man to man defense only. These teams may NOT press in the back court.  The only exception to this rule is the last three minutes of regulation and the entirety of overtime.  Defensive teams may double team the ball if the offensive player is within the three point area at the offensive end of the court.  ZONE DEFENSE IN THE HALF OR FULL COURT IS NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME.

7.  Full court pressing is not allowed at any grade level by any team if the point spread is 15 points or greater.

8.  There are NO 3 point field goals at any level.

9.  A player will foul out of the game when they reach their 5th foul. Free throws will be attempted from the second hash mark in from the free throw line for 3rd/4th graders only. 5th and 6th grade players will shoot from the regular free throw line.  Seven team fouls in a half will result in a 1-1 opportunity. Ten team fouls in a half will result in a two free throw opportunity. Fouls reset at halftime.

10.  Players may only play for ONE team during the season. Players must participate in a minimum of 7 regular season games to be eligible for the end of season tournament.  There may be exceptions to the 7 game minimum on a case by case basis, for reasons such as religious beliefs, etc…

11.  The home team will be the team listed on the LEFT or TOP side of the schedule and will be responsible for providing a person to operate the scoreboard.  The visiting team will be responsible for the official scorebook.

12.  E.Y.B.C. will require that all players sign a release for medical purposes.

13.  All players and spectators are expected to conduct themselves with the highest level of sportsmanship at all times.  Officials are a vital aspect of athletics and should be treated with respect. Players or coaches who are ejected from a game may not participate again that day, and are also not allowed to participate during the following EYBC game date.  This could add up to possibly a 3 game suspension!

14. The end of season tournament will be seeded based on regular season results. Tie breakers will be head to head results and point spread differential in head to head results.

15.  Please help to keep operational (janitorial) costs to a minimum by placing any trash in receptacles at all times.  We are all guests of the school districts that have offered to share their facilities with us. Head coaches are expected to make sure their bench is clear of all trash and any spills at the end of each game.
